Creative Writing….

Tonight I am sharing a bit of my own creativity with you.  I’ve been doing a lot of writing this week.  I’m trying to make it a habit to write for at least a half hour every night.  I started on Monday, and the only night I didn’t write was last night.  I’ve really felt the creativity coming back, and I’m excited because I haven’t wanted to write for me in such a long time.  Anyway, what’s writing for except to be read.  I’m not sharing everything I wrote, but here are 4 of the poems that I wrote this week.  I hope you enjoy.

This first one has some symbolism to it.  My youngest daughter got it REALLY well and caught the double meaning.  My oldest daughter, not so much – but both like it.  Hope you do, too.

Laid to Rest

Child of mine, I lay thee to rest
I wish you, my darling, all of the best
You are most precious to me, my dearest
And I hold you close to my breast

I wish you, my darling all of the best
Leave to God all the rest
And I hold you close to my breast
Begging you to stay at my behest

Leave to God all the rest
I see that you are in your very best
Begging you to stay at my behest
I strain to lift you to my chest

I see that you are in your very best
Child of mine, I lay thee to rest
I strain to lift you to my chest
You are most precious to me, my dearest

I wrote this next one just for fun.  I’ve always wanted to fly…

Flying

I often dream of flying
High up in the sky
Soaring above the universe
Everything tiny to my eye

High up in the sky
I look down at every speck
Everything tiny to my eye
I take the wind and soar

I look down at every speck
From my jet stream oh so high
I take the wind and soar
And leave it all behind

From my jet stream oh so high
I dip and swirl and spin
And leave it all behind
Soaring above the universe

This next poem was written in response to something my daughter wrote when she was sad.  She liked it – I hope you do as well.

Bleeding Heart

Fat tears like drops of blood
Fall from my eyes and
Splatter on the table
Drowning me with pain

Fall from my eyes and
Fill my soul with your tattered shame
Drowning me with pain
My heart bleeds for you

Fill my soul with your tattered shame
Rend my heart into tiny pieces
My heart bleeds for you
An open wound oozing with pain

Rend my heart into tiny pieces
That can never be re-sewn
An open wound oozing with pain
Healing seems impossible.

And last but not least…this one is written to my children:

Dance and Dream

Dance among the flowers
Dream among the stars
Don the sunbeams in the morning
And the moonbeams in the night

Dream among the stars
Dancing on distant lands
And the moonbeams in the night
Bloom like flowers in the meadow

Dancing on distant lands
Discover who you are inside
Bloom like flowers in the meadow
Your beauty shining from the inside out

Discover who you are inside
Don’t let anyone tell you who you are
Your beauty shining from the inside out
You’re more precious than you’ve ever hoped to be.

Well, that’s all for tonight.  I’m sure I’ll be back again soon.  So…

Until Next Time,
